Abstract of talk:
Computing has been the invisible engine behind modern technological breakthroughs—from early machines to today’s artificial intelligence. This talk offers a high-level, non-technical overview of how advanced semiconductors and powerful GPUs are driving today’s AI revolution, while also highlighting challenges such as rising infrastructure costs and growing energy demands.
As these limits become more apparent, quantum computing is emerging as a new paradigm with the potential to solve problems beyond the reach of classical computers. The session will conclude by exploring how quantum computing, together with AI, may shape the future of science, industry, and society.
